Application of Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology


MOSI nanowires promise a variety of possible applications, ranging from monomolecular substrates for biomolecular sensors to fillers in advanced composites. Other applications include field emission devices and tribological composites.


Conducting transparent composites and self-lubricationg composites are just two possible applications of MoSI nanowires embedded in a polymer matrix.

Field Emission

MoSI nanowire tips have been shown to have superior properties for field emission applications.

Some milestones in nanowire materials research

2001 – Report on new discovery of MoSIx nanowires (REMŠKAR M. et al.).

2003 – Discovery of giant paramagnetic effect in Li-dopped MoSIx nanowires.

2004 – Improved bulk synthesis of MoSIy nanowires.

2004 – Determination of the structure of MoSIx nanowires.
